Portrait Photography Sessions
Frequently Asked Questions
What should we wear?
It’s a personal choice! I like to suggest neutral colors, like navy, grey, cream, brown, plum, hunter, and black. I think it looks best when adults wear solid colors and the children wear something patterned. Try to avoid “matching” each other, instead try to compliment each other’s outfits. Take a look at Pinterest for clothing ideas!
How should I prepare for a Newborn session?
Turn up the heat! Having a warm shooting space makes it much more comfortable for baby when s/he’s undressed. Try to avoid putting baby in anything that needs to be pulled over the head—a diaper and blanket is best so it’s easy to get undressed. Feedings are encouraged during the session to keep a happy baby!
How should I prepare for a Toddler session?
The most important aspect of toddler photography is for the toddler to bond with the photographer. This 'warming-up' process can take 30 seconds or 10 minutes. The biggest challenge in a toddler photo-shoot is over-stimulation; this can be tempting for most parents but should be avoided. The most precious images are when the child becomes comfortable and vulnerable in the photographers presence.
What is the best time of day for outdoor photography?
When planning a session outdoors, early mornings or late afternoons are the best time for optimal lighting.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, check, and Paypal credit card invoicing.
Are you available for sessions outside the Davis?
Yes! I am often in San Francisco and willing to travel throughout California for a session.
