Portraiture Photography
Portrait photography combines light, form, setting and emotion. Within a portrait John captures the essence of what is special and unique about the individual person or subject. Posing for a portrait is not an easy task. John takes pride in creating a warm and comfortable space for each individual.
Portrait sessions are deeply considered by the photographer. Photo-shoots are an evolutionary event, a creative process in which models are posed and repositioned, and light exposures varied. Understanding the clients vision and needs are paramount in creating the desired imagery. Before our session, we will discuss the look, feel, and concept of your shoot. This will guide our decision about location and styling.
Graduate Portraits
Graduate portraits may include virtually any pose or clothing choice. Outdoor "location" photos continue to increase in popularity, as well as locations that are of specific importance to the graduate, both replacing studio portraits. I feel it is vital to talk with the future graduate, ask them questions, learn about their future plans; invest in who they are as a person so their pictures genuinely reflect their many talents and personality. I want to create images that are natural and reflect their inner spirit.
Picture proofs are available to view online the next day. Student pricing for a one-hour session is $100, this includes 12 digital images of your choice; additional images are $2.00 per images. On-line orders for prints are also available: 4"x6" $1.00, 5"x7" $4.00, 8"x10" $10.00, 8"x12" $12.00. To book a session please call 530-746-2337. To save money, add a friend to the session, $25 per person.

Location Portrait
Location portraits are any photographs created outside of the studio in a natural environment. A location portrait provides an endless array and contrast of settings from which to choose. In many cases, natural light is adequate and enhances the mood of the portrait. Additional light sources are used when appropriate and can elevate the atmosphere and ambiance of the setting. This category of portrait includes: new-born baby and family, modeling portfolio, business professional, standard head-shot, individual, fashion, senior graduate, and canine companion portraits.

New-Born to Toddler and Family Portraits
New-Born portrait captures the first few weeks of life where each day is more miraculous than the last. Ensure those memories of your newborn baby are captured for a lifetime. Newborn Sessions are scheduled within the first 2 weeks. Newborns also look their most tender and precious when sleeping. Newborn sessions may last from 1 – 3 hours, there is no set time limit. It is recommended to photograph a newborn at home; this proves to be most comfortable and convenience for both baby and mother. Window light provides adequate exposure and a beautiful soft tone to the imagery. Other information can be found by viewing our frequently asked questions section.
